Wikileaks Cablegate : Rahul Gandhi warns of home grown Hindu militancy
By (FINN) Frontier India News Network | December 18th, 2010 | 16 commentsThe Wikileaks cables reveal that “Rahul Gandhi, a top official in the ruling Congress Party, warned in 2009 that homegrown Hindu extremist groups could pose a greater threat than established Islamist militant groups, such as Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba, which has been blamed for the Mumbai attacks. Rahul Gandi claimed that “Growth of radicalized Hindu groups which create religious tensions and political confrontations with the Muslim community.” The cable was written by Ambassador Timothy Roemer.
This has led to controversy and the opposition naturally disliking it. BJP workers have burned Rahul Gandhi’s effigies. Congress spokesperson Manish Tewari quoted Gandhi as saying that “terrorism and communalism of all kinds are a threat to India” and that “we need to remain vigilant against terrorism of all kinds no matter who commits them”.
Rahul Gandhi’s immaturity is usually cloaked by the overzealous congress party public relations managers. A reference from an external source like the ‘leaked cable,” is beyond their influence.

It is beyond my understanding how comment condemning extremist attitudes on both sides ( Muslims as well as well Hindus) “divides the the country on cast basis and comunally devides indian society “, as claimed in comment above. India is home for second largest population of Muslims in the world. They are as “Indian” as any one else born in India. It is exremist attitudes on both sides which tend to divide the society. The real truth is some of these groups are in fact doing this with an intention of creating vote bank. Groups like Shiv Sena, RSS are equally guilty of this as Muslim league and others. Rahul Gandhi is simply stating a very important and sensible fact . India would become true global power only when we move on beyond politics of race, religion,regionalism.

Before reading the comments about Hindus and about so claimed Hindu Redical Groups from shri Gandhi..I used to appreciate Shri Gandhi for his commitment towards the politics but after reading his childish comment i now understand that Shri Gandhi has no mind..whatever he does or said in public is pre written by the experts and thats why he doesnt come in front of media for interviewes.. First Rahul is correct. As according to Newton law- to every action there is equal and opposit reaction so will be case of Indian Muslims. If in the name of Hindu God a Mosque was destroyed or innocent Muslims were killed in different parts of India like in Gujrat, in Mumbai etc then there will be some reaction but who is to blame to create such a situation? Did Pakistan motivate radical Hindu groups to act like this? Radical Hindu groups justify creation of Pakistan as they destroy house of God in the name of God. I think it proofs that God of Minority is not equal to God of Majority. This was the fear why Pakistan was created. Sad but true. Point is how we can create peace? Can we blame foreigners for all our own mistakes? I think wrong politics and worng use of relegion never bring good results.
