Obama and Change

The other day Marc Faber (author and publisher of the Gloom, Boom and Doom report) said, “I don’t have a very high opinion of Mr. Obama. I was negative of George Bush but I think Mr Obama makes him look like a genius.” He still is whisker away from truth. George W Bush was actually genius. I don’t think much about Marc Faber either.

A year ago, the day Mr Barack Obama was sworn in on January 20, 2009, as the 44th President of the United States, I was in a deep discussion with a 80 year old “Indian” statesman and his wife. The topic was George Bush. I asked the couple a question, “list me one mistake George Bush made?” The statesman stumbled “uh uh…. Iraq war.” I asked him to list me another. And there was silence. And I said “just one mistake, and you cannot forgive him for rest of the good job he has done?”

His wife intervened, what about Afghanistan? I inquired, “what about it?” She said, “look at the mess?” I asked “what mess?” She said “look how they are bombing the place.” I said “they are bombing the bad guys, is that a mistake?” She said” Isn’t America responsible for it?”. I said “we are talking about Bush.” And the conversation went on. Finally, the statesman asked me, “what do you think about Obama?” I told him “change is a very difficult thing and perceptions differ on its definition. For example, the Chinese truth is different from the truth we know. But, even though he can bring in a change, he is definitely not the messiah we are looking for.”

His wife was in a combative mood. Se said “that’s what not the newspapers say.” I said, “in my humble opinion, Obama has a team of media managers who are responsible for it. The newspaper columnist are like a herd. At the same time George Bush allowed criticism. In one years time, you will see the truth.” She said “we will wait and see.”

One year later, the poor lady is not alive to see the truth. In a way, good she did not live to see the failure of change she hoped and read so much. Also, I did not want myself to win.

While, George Bush was one of the best friends of India, Obama has gone a step further. He turned himself into an Indian politician. He now does what the Indian politicians excel at. Having been kicked in the **** by the usual suspects like China, Iran, North Korea etc, Obama is face saving fixing his own country men in the name of fixing the economy and policy. I see a true Indian politician in him. You can see the impotence.

Ok, now I am not saying one year is enough to for a change. I am merely putting this note up. I think, I have a half chance to be heard. The euphoria and brouhaha have died down: Both Anti-Bush and Pro-Obama. let rationale take over.

It is time Obama brings in change. A change in himself and his policies. Clearly, both his convictions and policies are not working. Obama should do a google. Google, after initial bumbling in china, has shown the will to change. That’s the right way to go about it.

Will you or will you not, Mr. Obama? I still think you can bring in a change.
