Is UN now supporting groups using child soldiers?

Last time, our friends from Human Rights Watch (HRW) offered an advice to India government. It says that Indian government (specifically the Home Ministry headed by our serial bullshitter P. Chidambaram), should “Ensure Free Expression and Opinion for Maoist Supporters.” Normally, its an harmless statement with no consequence to any of the warring parties, the Indian Government and the Maoist. Home Minister P. Chidambaram is not going to stop bullshitting and Maoist actions are going to speak louder than their supporters free expression or opinion. And how can HRW expect P. Chidambaram to allow Maoist to get more publicity than himself?

Now, Our friends from HRW have a new advice.

They say India should immediately review state government policies of occupying and using school buildings as part of operations against Maoist armed groups, known as Naxalites, and give schools better protection from Maoist attacks.

HRW fails to tell us who is going to protect our police forces who have to protect the schools? So far between P. Chidambaram’s loud mouth and Maoist’s action, in excess of 200 police men have been already killed.

Then a so called “Asia researcher on children’s rights” [you know the kind of fancy titles these HRW guys can think of] at Human Rights Watch, Bede Sheppard (am not able to figure if that name is for a male or female) mentions this brilliant statement. She / He says “Both the security forces and the Maoists in India are exploiting and harming children, destroying their chances at an education and causing damage that will affect their entire lives.” Now, this I find as brilliant. You need to be a researcher in HRW to tell that. In India, even an illiterate can say that.

As I don’t want to nit pick any more (allow me my P. Chidambaram moments) of what HRW said, I will get straight to the point. The HRW release says

The UN Security Council has stated repeatedly that it will consider targeted sanctions, including arms embargoes, against parties to armed conflict that do not end their use of child soldiers.

So, the UN security council accepts that they are supporting groups who use children as soldiers? So what do they mean by ….it will consider targeted sanctions, including arms embargoes…? Are they already supplying arms?

Now, here is the fun part. India has $ 100 billion of arms purchase budget for next 10 years and Maoist don’t need arms from UN.

It is high time, UN and HRW stop their useless tirades and work for the benefit of the mankind. Just for example, the useless and mindless report they produced and the amount of time and energy they spend, it could be used for better purpose. While I do not dispute the fact that research is not important. On the Maoist issue, looking at their reports, I find that the UN and HRW is anti common people of India.

What Maoist areas need is money for development and respect from the government, something our government does not understand. May be UN through its agencies can attempt that. At the Maoist side, the UN should put pressure on them to stop exploiting children and women. Let it be a “Man’s Thing.”
