Indian Army’s two simultaneous war preperations are extension of old policy

The predictable sub-woofer frothing of Pakistani foreign office, establishment and media to any pronouncements by India continues. Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Memood Qureshi has been on auto pilot reacting to Indian army chief General Deepak Kapoor’s statement that its preparing for a simultaneous war with China and Pakistan. It is a common knowledge that India has always been ready for one and a half wars. One full war against Pakistan and simultaneous half war against China.

Currently Indian Army talks about simultaneous two full war’s which is an extension of the old policy. The Pakistani Foreign Minister is clearly speaking for the Chinese and not for Pakistanis as this two full war concept should have actually got response from China. Pakistan is facing a full war with India anyway, if war comes.

India has been increasing and reorganizing its ORBATon the Chinese border. It includes new army units with equipment, reactivation of air fields in north, south and east of the country and fielding of a carrier battle group on the eastern seas against China.

But Pakistani foreign office is barking at wrong tree on behalf of China. Indian Army chief is just a cog in the entire Indian political machinery. He is merely preparing for something the Indian civilian setup expects him to do. On November 27, 2009, at Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (IDSA) Antony had said that “We have to carry out continuous appraisals of Chinese military capabilities and shape our responses accordingly.”
