Human Right Watch gets it wrong on Maoist

Human Right Watch, as usual goes tough on soft states. India seems to be its favorite whip boy as Indians don’t bite them back. Latest of it is the HRW release ” India: Ensure Free Expression and Opinion for Maoist Supporters.” Why does HRW ends up always supporting the terrorist and not the Indian people?

HRW quotes:

On May 6, 2010, the Home Ministry issued a statement saying that, “It has come to the notice of the government that some Maoist leaders have been directly contacting certain NGOs and intellectuals to propagate their ideology and persuade them to take steps which would provide support to the CPI (Maoist) ideology.” Government officials warned members of civil society that the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, which calls for imprisonment of up to 10 years, could be used to punish individuals in contact with the Maoists. Home Minister P. Chidambaram had earlier called upon civil society demanding “voices of condemnation of those who have, erroneously, extended intellectual and material support to the CPI (Maoist).”

Let me make it clear, our home minister P. Chidambaram is a big bullshitter and does not mean any harm. I would have agreed with HRW if they would have come out with a statement of “should not Levi excess tax and burden common people with economic hardship by appointing a incompetent finance minister (when P. Chidambaram was the finance minister).” We used to have every day threats in the news papers via advertisements “pay up tax in time or jail and other punishments.” The P Chdambaram would claim “since the taxes collections are good, the economy is in pink of health.” That is true meaning of “Warnings to Civil Society a Threat to Fundamental Freedoms.” Civil society should enjoy the joy of earning and spending and not getting taxed for the sake of survival of the government.

P. Chidambaram is a “serial Warner” and no one of consequence will listen to him. Think about his warnings to Indian Industry, black marketers etc, while he was doing some nuclear deal in New York as the fiance Minister of India. Just the common people, who have actually lost their voice have no other option, but, follow his dictates that come via the government machinery. He is the kind of guy who would like to talk about nuclear deal when he is finance minister, finance when he is home minister etc. The time he would speak about his own job, he would either get a shoe, the parliament will get adjourned or more innocent people will get killed. So, please don’t take his statements seriously. And ofcouse don’t take Maoist seriously as they have got nothing to do with common man and the tribal’s.

As per HRW statement:

The Indian government appears to have threatened to curb the right to freedom of expression by treating it as equivalent to providing material or physical support for criminal acts by the proscribed Communist Party of India (Maoist), also known as Naxalites, which the government has banned.

I don’t know why you always support the militants? Be it Kashmir of Nagaland, why is HRW always on the wrong side of the situation? Try to understand this logic:

What Maoist got to do with tribal justice? -> What Maoist got to do with P. Chidambaram’s threat?

Maoist will anyway do what it pleases them. No one listens to P. Chidambaram, neither the terrorist, nor his cabinet colleagues. Even the common people don’t listen to him, but, are victims because of his use of the government machinery. P. Chidambaram’s initial qualification for Home Ministry’s job was his (pathetic) performance as finance minister and currently his reason to remain on chair is “what will Maoist think if we remove him.” You can see how much the government of India cares about Maoist’s opinion. They maintain P. Chidambaram even at the cost of central Reserve police being massacred almost every other day.

By pointing out petty objections, HRW is on the wrong side of the great Indian common man (and naturally the Indian tribal’s).

Imagine a worse Human Rights situation from the Indian government by bringing P. Chidambaram back to finance Ministry!
