U.S. Marines $6 million contract modification to provide transparent armored gun shield
BAE Systems has been awarded a contract modification valued at $6 million to deliver 360 Marine Corps Transparent Armored Gun Shield (MCTAGS) turret kits for HMMWV vehicles and Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicles to the U.S. Marine Corps.
This modification, when combined with the contract awarded in July, brings the total contract value to $23.6 million. The total number of MCTAGS turret kits BAE Systems has on contract is 1,335.
BAE Systems MCTAGS units have been fielded on a wide range of vehicles, including the M1 Abrams, Medium Tactical Vehicle Replacement, M88 Family of Vehicles, Logistics Vehicle System and the Joint Explosive Ordnance Disposal Rapid Response Vehicle. MCTAGS units are particularly effective in close-combat urban environments.
