Thales Air Traffic Management system in Denmark is fully operational
NAVIAIR, the Danish Air Navigation Service Provider (ANSP), has gone through the transition process now making the new Thales-supplied EUROCAT system fully operational since 29th December 2007. The DATMAS contract was awarded to Thales in June 2002 for the supply of the latest state of the art integrated EUROCAT air traffic management system. Thales has been awarded a contract by Naviair, the Danish Air Navigation Service Provider (ANSP) for the supply of two Air Traffic Management training systems and three EUROCAT control centres. With close to 80 controller working positions, these new centres will provide a complete en-route and terminal control capability for the airports of Copenhagen, Roskilde and Billund.
The DATMAS system was commissioned in September 2006, 3 months ahead of the planned schedule.
Naviair has been working with Thales for many years and will now benefit from a fully proven system that has demonstrated its operational capabilities in 16 European countries. Thales has supplied a total of 260 air traffic control centres worldwide, all designed to comply with international standards and meet customers’ requirements for enhanced air traffic safety and security.
The Danish EUROCAT system will enhance traffic capacity, safety and security, offering Naviair controllers a complete set of latest-generation tools including advanced flight plan functionalities, e.g. trajectory profile and Medium Term Conflict Detection (MTCD) working in 4 dimensions. DATMAS will be the first system, with new technology and advanced Flight Data Processing (FDP) functionalities to be operational in December 2007.
Naviair is a state-owned company under the Danish Ministry of Transport and Energy. Provision of air navigation services is Naviair’s first priority, i.e. to provide its services in an efficient and expeditious way, guiding aircraft safely through Danish airspace with minimum delays.
