Thirteen runners selected for McDowells Signature Premier Indian Derby 2012
By Frontier India News Network (FINN) | February 3rd, 2012 | No Comments »Mumbai: The most sought after Horse Racing event in the country, McDowell’s Signature Premier Indian Derby’s final line-up has been decided. Thirteen runners will go to the post for India’s premier horse racing event. With only their barrier numbers to be decided, the post position draw is the most exciting and important event ahead of the Derby itself.
While the draw often does not matter over a mile and a half, it may do so at the Mahalaxmi track. The twelve furlong marker is at the Winning Post and the horses hit the first turn soon after the jump-out. An inside draw is generally advantageous while an outside one
can be challenging as horses may find themselves out of position right from the first turn onward.
The McDowell’s Signature Premier Post Position Draw is an evening where owners, trainers and jockeys get the opportunity to determine their own fates. Against the backdrop of fashion, music and style, this event has now become a part of the Signature Premier Indian Derby tradition and has evolved to become a platform where only the bold stand out. Glitterati from Bollywood and the fashion and
music industry come together at one of the most beautiful settings in the city of Mumbai.
This year, the entertainment line up at the post position draw, was marked by a start studded fashion show based on the Wild West Theme. Famous models like Aanchal Kumar scorched the ramp in their bold outfits. International fashion couture artist, Adam Saaks demonstrated custom couture on his muse, Bollywood actress, Sarah Jane Dias.
