India beats Sri Lanka in 2nd ODI of Tri-Series cricket tournament at Australia

Perth: Indian cricket team today defeated Sri Lankan team by four wickets in the second match of the ongoing Commonwealth Bank Series.

At Perth today, Sri Lankan’s set to score 234 runs for a win. Electing to bat after winning the toss, Sri Lanka made 233 for 8 in the stipulated 50 overs. Dinesh Chandimal made 64. India achieved the target in 46.4 overs. The unbroken seventh-wicket partnership between Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravinder Jadeja yielded 53 runs. While Ashwin was unbeaten on 30, Jadeja was not out on 24. Virat Kohli was the top scorer with a 77.

Ashwin who took three wickets in the Sri Lankan innings, was declared ‘Man of the Match’.

India had lost to hosts Australia in their opening encounter on Sunday. The next match will be played between India and Australia at Adelaide on the 12th of this month.

Meanwhile, Cricket Australia today withdrew a Hindi advt after facing heavy fine for alleged promotion of tobacco. Cricket Australia could face fines of up to USD 66,000 for each breach of the 1992 tobacco advertising ban. The Indian brand promoting mouthwash has the same name for its tobacco products.
