Russia in final stages of field testing new 82-mm mortar
In North-Caucasian military district on a mountain range Darya, the third and final stage of trial of the new 82- mm mortar system has begun. The trial is managed by the Deputy Chief of Army Lieutenant-General Valery Evnevich.
In mountainous terrain the mortar system will be tested at various altitudes, units will conduct pilot shooting in different conditions and tactical situation. Earlier this mortar system, designed for motorized infantry brigades mortar platoons (mountain), had successfully passed factory tests and in the plains areas.
The new mortar system which is an improvement to 82 - mm mortar “Tray” for the first time installed on the multipurpose light truck (MTLB), which greatly reduced time to fire. Mortar set can easily be disassembled, adapted for shooting from the vehicle and the ground.
