Oskarshamn nuclear power station perimeter security by SAAB
Saab will build up yet an integrated security system, this time at Oskarshamn nuclear power station, OKG. The contract is worth SEK 392 million.
“We have signed an historic agreement with Oskarshamns Kraftgrupp AB (OKG). Probably the largest private security procurement ever made in Sweden. Over the next two years we will deliver all the technology required to protect this highly critical part of social infrastructure”, says Saab Communications vice business unit manager Michael Höglund.
“We are very proud of having won this contract against fierce international competition. It showed that Saab’s values of knowledge, confidence and will, in combination with our brand, are rated highly”, Michael Höglund concludes.
The contract means that Saab designs and implements the surveillance system that is customised for work in the surveillance centre. Perimeter security must be interpreted as the physical security that makes it difficult for an intruder to enter the nuclear power station. The system covers:
* presentation system
* network
* system for intruder alarms
* cameras for immediate verification of security perimeter alarms and surveillance
* pass control systems and systems guaranteeing uninterruptible power supply
The perimeter security meets the requirements of the Swedish Nuclear power Inspectorate.
The complete solution includes installation, delivery and corrective building work, which means that Saab is the main contractor for OKG’s project for new facility protection.Saab is focusing on winning more business within the energy segment. There are a number of interesting prospects both within Sweden and internationally.
