Two CPI (M) leaders killed in attack in West Bengal
By (FINN) Frontier India News Network | February 22nd, 2012 | No Comments »Burdwan: In West Bengal, two senior CPIM leaders were killed in an attack by armed miscreants during a procession in Burdwan district today. The Superintendent of Police S H M Mirza said that former CPI (M) MLA Pratip Tah and party’s district committee member Kamal Gayan were died in the attack.
Both members of the Burdwan district committee of the CPI(M) were killed in open daylight in the Dewandighi.
CPI (M) blamed Trinamool Congress and termed it ‘Political Killing.”
“These attacks come in the background of the massive popular mobilization, at the call of the CPI(M), in the Brigade Parade Ground on February 19 which reflected people’s anger against the politics of violence and vendetta. Frustrated by the growing resistance of the people, the TMC led goons have indulged in this gruesome act,” said the CPI (M) release.
“These two murders takes up the toll of people killed to 58 since the change of government,” added the statement.
The party has called a 12 hour bandh in Burdwan district tomorrow in protest against the killings. The police arrested four persons in connection with the incident.
Meanwhile, the district Trinamool Congress has claimed that they have no link with the episode.
