NATO F-16, Tornados and Typhoons accompany Russian Tu-95
Yesterday, May 21, two Tu-95MS from the Engels airbase (Saratov region) took off for a 18 hour flight on air patrols over the waters of the Arctic and Atlantic oceans. The TU-95 MS refueled in the airfrom two air tankers Il-78 from the airbase Diagilevo (Ryazan).
In the course of the patrol the strategic rocket carriers were accompanied by the F -16, Tornado and Typhoon fighters from NATO, including in the course of refueling. The NATO fighters accompanied strategic rocket carriers Tu-95 MS more than 3 hours.
The pilots of Russian long-range aviation regularly carry out air patrolling above the neutral waters of the Arctic, Atlantic, Black sea and Pacific Ocean, both from the base and from the operational airfields. Air crews improve the level of training during the flights over the north latitudes, above the unmarked terrain and so forth in the course of flights are perfected, such as the teamwork of air crews, finalizing different elements of the flight training, including of the most complex - in-flight refuelling, from the tanker aircraft Il-78. This element is considered the apex of the aerial feat, when two 200- ton machines are joined together through the flexible system of fueling “cone-hose” at a distance of 20 meters with the speed of 600 km/h, especially if another NATO fighter jets were escorting. Refueling allows for strategic rocket carriers Tu-160 and Tu-95 ms to accomplish tasks in air up to twenty-four hours and more.
