Mumbai boy Suhas Khamkar made India proud by winning a gold at the Asian Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness Mr Asia bodybuilding championship. This is a first for India in past 20 years. Suhas is a Central Railway employee. He won the gold in the 75 kg category in Bahrain recently. A native of Kolhapur, he has been living in Mumbai for more than a decade. For past 12 years, he has been involved in bodybuilding. It wasn’t him alone, Heera Lal also won a gold in the 65 kg category. the event saw 117 competitors in all.
Khamkar says that he works out for seven to eight hours a day. His everyday diet includes 1.5 kg chicken, 50 eggs, 700 gm fish, and 5 kg fruits,including apple and sweet lime. He takes protein supplements which have been imported from USA.
Soon after his arrival in India, Suhas Khamkar headed to the house of Bal Thackeray, the Shiv Sena leader. Suhas Khamkar is 26 years old and is a travelling ticket examiner (TTE) by profession.
