As provocative actions by China increase, which is similar to 1962 war build up, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will meet Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao in Vietnam next week. The two of them are expected to take stock of the bilateral ties. “Singh and Wen will have a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the ASEAN Summit in Hanoi,” says foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao. She refused to speak about agenda.
The meeting comes after some provocative actions by China. China has denied visa to an Indian General who commanded India Army in J&K, issuing stapled visas to residents of J&K, marking J&K as Pakistani territory and the claims on the Indian territory of Arunachal Pradesh.
New Delhi has put on hold all defence exchanges till this issue of visa to the general was addressed by China.
China has based its troops to Pakistan occupied Kashmir, claiming to build a highway. China has also been undertaking some other projects in PoK.
India sees these steps as objectionable considering that it considers the territories as its own.
