First thing is to drastically overhaul their PR apparatus. Sorry to say, but DRDO PROs are pretty bad… you need to hire professionals. Hire an ad company, even a small one. Put out regular info. Overhaul the site.
Also, involve the public directly a lot more. that would not only get good press, but interest people as well.
Lastly, keeping quiet when patently wrong information comes out will only harm the organization. They need to react.

You are right on the DRDO. What about DPSU, IAF, IN and IA?

The same I guess. They face the same problems, although less of the journalistic ‘investigations’.
IMO, the main issue that they rarely come out in their own defense. Whenever there is a success, all that the papers give is a few lines about a successful launch. But when there is a failure, or a delay, they rake up the whole issue. The DRDO needs to educate the press and people about the importance of the technology under test, as well as the reasons for the delays. Showing off the technical challenges in developing them is another good way to prove that DRDO is not making bats and shoes, but cutting edge technology.
Another issue that need to bring out is comparisons with foreign systems. They need to show that the DRDO products are as good, if not much better than the latest gadgets that people see on discovery channel (which is also the main source of info for most journos). Plus, when people realize that the foreign systems are not for sale, or extremely expensive, it will crystallize their opinions.
More info about the basics of the machines in the press kit helps educate the journalists, and helps prevent goof-ups like the Arjun torsion bar problem reports.
Unfortunately, like i said before, the PR apparatus is pathetic. Each lab must have its own PRO, a professional one. A good rapport with the press also helps, especially when the DRDO is up against forces like the combined money power of all the defence dealers and agents.

It would be nice sir, if you could post your lecture slides on this site once you’re done with a lecture…. if possible, an audio recording in mp3 format would also be brilliant.

Sir,
It will be put up in the form of an article. I promise you that. Just some recommendations and other vital data will be edited for obvious purpose.
Please be assured.

Dear Sir,
I anticipate the need of more awareness in this regard as a member which i haven’t been long i understand that iam a civilian but what is important at this juncture is not counsellings but awareness…i see youngsters of my age doing so much on the internet but half realizing its impact and the apathy lies in their ignorance as soon as i got the e-psyops ppt i dispatched it to most of my friends but iam also aware that many of them might think it as a forwarded message, hence i urge you that honest contribution is required to tackle this menace both at the civilian as well as the defense establishment level.
And hence i again come to the same point awareness is the key to avert such situations maybe we should also think of starting workshops at the school level then at least we can expect that our future generations will be more aware as well as vigilant.
Regards,
Abhishek.
