The Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry (JAK LI) Regiment has conducted a successful mountaineering expedition to Mt Nun (23410 ft). The expedition was undertaken as part of numerous activities planned to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of the Regiment. The expedition led by Col Vinay Khosla set a new record of maximum numbers summiting the peak wherein a total of 3 Officers, 2 JCOs and 17 other ranks submitted the peak over a period of three days, with the last batch being successful in late hours yesterday.
JAK LI draws its troops from J & K. In this expedition five belonged to Srinagar, three to Kargil, five to Poonch, three to Doda region while others were from Jammu region. Scaling of Mt Nun demands very high standards of technical expertise, courage, physical fitness and mental robustness to scale it.
