47 Indian Coast Guard officers complete the Law and Operations Course

Kochi: 47 Officers of the Indian Coast Guard completed the Law and Operations Course from the Coast Guard Training Centre at Fort Kochi here. Inspector General SPS Basra, Regional Commander Coast Guard Region West reviewed the Passing Out Parade witnessed by Coast Guard personnel and the parents of officers who completed training. The syllabi of the law and operations course of the Indian Coast Guard include Maritime law, pollution response, search and rescue, and ocean management. Assistant Commandant Prabsimran Jawa won the Director General Indian Coast Guard’s Sword of Honour for the best overall performance.

In his address to the Parade, Inspector General reminded them that the completion of training is the beginning of learning which would continue for the rest of their professional life. IG Basra also informed the audience that the Indian Coast Guard will have 77 surface platforms and 56 aircraft by the end of the year. He also said that Dahanu and Androth will have new Coast Guard Stations in the next two months.

On completion of the passing Out Parade, Inspector General Basra conducted a special briefing for the assembled members of the media on the chain of events which led to the unfortunate death of two innocent Indian fishermen and the role played by Indian Navy and Coast Guard in bringing the merchant ship Enrica Lexie to Kochi.
