Indian Navy is not just aggressive at sea pirates, its also seems to have zero tolerance on media pirates too. Indian Navy today reacted strongly on an ill-written report in a Indian newspaper. As a clarification Indian Navy issued a statement that the deployment of MARCOS by Western Naval Command was purely on the basis of a telephonic request from the Chief Secretary of the Govt of Maharashtra to the Chief of Staff. No written request was sought nor delivered to date. This fact may be corroborated from the Chief Secretary’s office as well. The erring newspaper reported that Indian Navy asked for a written communication before sending in their commandos.
The erring report went on to claim that naval Commandos refused to get in and fight. This erring report does not even takes account that the entire episode was watched world over live.
MARCOS were the first special force to exchange fire with the terrorists in the Taj hotel at. MARCOS were avaliable at Taj just after 40 minutes from the time Naval Chief recieved the request at 1.00 AM. Subsequently,MARCOS collected the reintelligence and stormed the building by about Resulting action enabled over 180 guests to be evacuated, seizure of ammunition and documents from the terrorists and injury to two MARCOS during the pitched gun battle. On arrival of the NSG at 6.40 AM, the MARCOS handed over to the NSG and then withdrew from the scene of action.
Navy has also received in writing from the Chief Secretary, Maharashtra Government that Navy had not asked for any written request for deploying the marine Commandos.
