New Delhi: India would definitely extend its support to the United Nations Human Rights Committee (UNHRC) when it would visit Sri Lanka to study the allegations of massive human rights violations during the final phase of the war against the LTTE in 2009, says Union Minister of State for PMO V Narayanasamy.
“Not only in Sri Lanka, if war crimes and human rights violations are reported in any part of the world, India will not remain a mute spectator and will strongly oppose it,” Narayanasamy said.
He said that the Prime Minister will nt allow Human Rights violations to take place in any part of the world.
In march this year, India along with 24 countries voted against Sri Lanka today at a session of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva. The US had sponsored resolution for ‘promoting reconciliation and accountability’ in Sri Lanka after the army defeated the Tamil Tigers in a 26-year-long civil war. UNHCR is one of the main providers of humanitarian assistance to IDPs and returnees in Sri Lanka.

India is not anti Sri lanka.. It is only natural that Tamils are suffering there. Sri Lanka does not has the capability to support them and reconstruction. When people are stepping in to help, they bring their own terms. If IMF gives loans, they do it on terms like any other lender. Hiding things from International community will only lead to more unrest. It is not that they are invading Sri lanka. They are addressing a part of the concern.

What a bunch of nonsense. India is the biggest human rights violator in the world. What about all the human rights violations committed under Indira Gandhi in the massacre of Sikhs at their holiest temple in Amritsar? Was India subject to any outside investigation to address their culpability? Of course, not. India used its power to avoid being brought in front of international organizations to address that issue. Unfortunately, a small country such as Sri Lanka, does not have that kind of power and has to be subject to hypocritical, a**wipes like India, who act as holier than thou, while being complicit in murders of thousands of its own citizens. Also, do not forget that Indira Gandhi was the one who funded the LTTE in its nascent stage, giving it the capabilitiy to become the murderous outfit it turned out to be.

This is funny, because this war was there for more than 30 years. around 100000 people got killed. but no body talked about human right violations. LTTE attacked every possible place in sri lanka and killed thousands of people regardless of their nationality, religion, cast..etc. But whole world was def and blind. Why don’t the Tamil Nadu Tamils understand, that the majority of Sri Lanka Tamils live with the Sinhalese. Now the Eastern Sri lanka Tamils ( LTTE Karuna faction ) are with the Sinhalese. ( Ministers, Chief Ministers & Deputies). The upcountry Tsmils ( The real Indian Tamils ), are also living with the Sinhalese( ministers& deputies ).

Look at India’s record. Who trained and armed the LTTE? Who saved a trapped Prabhakaran in Vaddamaratchchi? Who provided a safe sanctuary to the LTTE cadres from alleged crimes? Who entered our air space illegally to drop food to humiliate rather than feed? Who tried to control the North/East by military force through the office of a bloated High Commissioner in Colombo? Who supported Varatharaja Perumal and his puppeteers to come to power and to declare an independent state? Who provided a safe haven to Perumal? Facts that are hard to forget in whatever diplomatic language it is couched. India needs a reminder. Perhaps Sri Lanka may have faired better if India did not arm, train and fund the LTTE? To put it simply, India sponsored terrorism in Sri Lanka and was reluctant to end support for the terrorist organisation. Indian politicians even today continue to voice their support for the Tamil Tigers and separatism in Sri Lanka.
Several people have suggested that Sri Lanka identify and publish names of India’s foreign policy and intelligence officials who originally supported formation and training of the LTTE and other groups. in the 1980s. It has also been suggested that some of those (now retired) officials should be charged with aiding and abetting international terrorism.

Even though they are fully aware of it, still they are licking the boots of Western Goverments to to get their support to punish Sri Lanka, because Sri Lanka as a sovereign nation, is not ready to bow down & cow down to the dictates of Indian leaders, who will not hesitate to sacrifice Sri Lanka for their own political survival.

Given that Sri Lanka was fighting India’s war by proxy and HiRes Indian satellite imagery would have been studied by Indian experts as the war was unfolding to clearly conclude that war crimes were being committed, this headline is a joke. It is the Indians who have the evidence to prove the war crimes (including the SL arms procurement lists vetted by them prior to purchase by SL – containing chemical weapons, cluster bombs and heavy artillery). This headline is a calibrated response for containment of the issue, expressing their (bogus) support to HRC but continuing to support SL on the ground – run with the hare and hunt with the hounds. If I haven’t convinced anyone the last paragraph here should. “India is Sri Lanka’s largest trade partner overall and Sri Lanka is India’s largest trade partner in South Asia. Before war crimes it was India that started the violence by training Tamil terrorist that started a war that ended up in the alleged war crimes. It was India that initiated the violence that caused the human rights violations in SL during and at the end of the war. Narayansamy has selective amnesia. It is India that needs to be first taken to task for human rights abuse in SL. This hypocrisy and the holier than thou appearance of India is laughable. Just about India itself the abuse of untouchables, tribal people are but a few of the abuse in India itself. It is another case of doctor heal thyself.
Indira of Inida created the LTTE and armed and funded it with the intention of destabilizing the then Sri Lankan government which was west leaning. Rajiv wanted to strengthen it and dictate terms and forced us to sign an accord favoring India. But when Premadasa kicked the Indians out, the following SL governments tried peace with LTTE out of neccessity but they made use of peace time to strengthen their power and isolate Sri Lanka. India was on their side. Ultimately the Chinese came with no strings attached help to get rid of the LTTE menace for good. India found that she is now no more a friend of Sri Lanka and was getting nervous SL about closer ties towards China. Hence India, tried choking Sri Lanka by other means and tied up with the west via the UNHCR. This is very clear.
First of all India should look into her own acts of human rights violations in the northern states where there are insurgencies and how the police go on destroying the villages just on suspicion of supporting the Maoists! A recent documentary on Al Jazeera in Assam, done by an Indian journalist, divulged video evidence of these atrocities. There were villages completely burned down by a government para-military group and the village population fled to the jungle and now live there. This is just a few examples. There are many other.
So I think Sri Lanka should bring a motion in the UN to initiate action on that human rights violations too so that India will avoid killing innocent and poor citizens, without proper trial.
I would like to ask from you minister why do not consider your over 250m people are eating garbage and sleeping in street do not have human right. it is more appropriate if your prime minister can take action to help that living people in your country without wasting time for death terroirst in sri lanka.
i will never forget the incident where as a 11yr old I threw a banana skin from the train and a little boy of about 6yrs eagerly pounced on it and was scraping the inside for whatever there was in it,it was a shocker that such conditions existed. If only India can mind it’s own business we Srilankans will be delighted as we are at our ropes end as far as Indian relations are concerned.Time and time again it has been proved that India is just a backstabbing hippocrit who wants to be called a friend.
Some Sri lankan’s are commenting as if there is no poverty in Sr Lanka. Sri lanka is infamous for its Child Sex Tourism. Poverty, sexual abuse, hunger etc are world epidemics and is not exclusive to India. The issues like Balochistan are the extreme end of human rights violations. For Sri lanka, the issues are being addressed. It is understandable that national passions do run high and hypocrisy is everywhere.
India had actually worked with Sri lanka to introduce an element of balance in the language of the resolution.
Indians worship the westerners. Indians only talk about Asian countries, because they have no guts or backbone to stand up and talk about the western countries’ atrocities around the world. In fact, 59 million Indians died by the starvation under the British rule, but an average Indian does not know about this evil act. India is the largest democratic country by population, but it has no mandate. Rcently Wikileaks founder Julian Assange filed a political asylum with Ecuador, but not with India. I think it is a high time for the Indians to invite the westerners back to their country to rule over them.
What about human rights violations in Kashmir and Northern Sr Lanka, by Indian security forcers? Is India or the UNHRC going to investigate Indians for Human rights violations?
