HELINA air to surface missile to be ready by 2013

HELINA missile (HELIcopter launched NAg), the air to ground version of the NAG anti-Tank missile is scheduled to be integrated into the HAL built Dhruv Helicopters. Both Helina and Dhruv are Indian designed and developed products. “The weaponised version of the ALH Dhruv helicopter will be able to fire HELINA’s by 2013,” say DRDO sources. DRDO will offer the product for user trials in 2013.

HELINA is also an upgraded version of NAG missile. It is being developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).

It is being developed as per the user requirement and the project will see upgraded propulsion that will enable HELINA to strike enemy armor at a distance of 7 kms to 8 kms.
