Flight testing SaM146 engine for Sukhoi SuperJet100
NPO Saturn is in final stages of integration of SaM146 engine to IL-76 flight testbed. The engine is meant for Sukhoi SuperJet 100, SSJ100. The flight will happen in October 2007 and is the first stage of test flight. The second phase will take place in the town of Istra, in the southwest of France.
The engine to be tested is 3rd of the 8 engines meant for testing. The flight test if successful, will lead to testing of the 4th engine of the series.

SaM146 program built on the principles of strategic partnership OAO NPO Saturn and the French company Snecma (Snecma, SAFRAN Group). For SaM146 program management, including development, production, marketing and sales, as well as customer support and service, NPO Saturn “and” director “in 2004 established a joint venture” PauerDzhet (PowerJet). SaM146 program is one of the most striking examples of cooperation of Russian and European industry.
SaM146 engine was selected in April 2003 by “civil aircraft” Sukhoi “for a regional aircraft” Dry Sukhoi SuperJet100. ” SaM146 is the only integrated power plant, specially designed for use on regional trunk new generation aircraft. SaM146 engine is the most modern design, developed from the experience of previous programmes and analysis of competitive products for a given reliability and performance. Distinguishing features of the engine SaM146 are high reliability, low cost of maintenance, low fuel consumption, as well as compliance with existing and future environmental requirements of ICAO.
Certification engine will be held by Russian, European and American aviation regulations, which will operate the aircraft SSJ100 without restriction in all countries.
