Dr. Abdul kalam launches book on Srilanka Peace Process
India’s Ex president Dr. Abdul kalam launched a book titled “Sri Lanka: Strengthening the Peace Process” written by Virendra Gupta.

During the launch Dr Kalam emphasised on the words “Search for Peace” in the title of the book.
The book examines the issues relating to the stalled peace process in Sri Lanka, which was initiated after the Cease Fire Agreement (CFA) of February 22, 2002 between the Government of Sri Lanka and the LTTE. The chapters look at the ground realities, the intentions and capabilities of the players and suggest alternative frameworks for re-starting the peace process. There is consensus among the contributors that in order to strengthen the peace process, it is necessary for the international community, including India to engage both the players and encourage Norwegian facilitation to address the concerns of all parties, including the Muslims, who also have a stake in the outcome.
Dr Kalam was in Institute for Defence Studies & Analyses (IDSA) to deliver the inaugural address at the “International Space Security Conference: Scope and Prospects for Global Cooperation” jointly organised by IDSA and Centre for Defence and International Security Studies (CDISS) London.
The book has been published by Manas Publications in collaboration with IDSA.
