Orbit Technology Group, a recognized leader in the development of advanced solutions for Stabilized Mobile Satellite Communication and Tracking Antennas, announced the award of an order, in excess of $4 million, by the French Navy via DCNS. With this contract, Orbit will supply the French Navy with Ku-Band (brand name OrSat) and C-Band Marine Satellite Communication systems.

The Missile Defense Agency’s Space Tracking and Surveillance System (STSS) Demonstration Satellite Program has shipped one of two planned satellites to the Eastern Launch Site at Cape Canaveral, Fla. It will be closely followed by its sister vehicle in preparation for a tandem launch planned for August 2009.

The shipment of Space Vehicle-2 (SV-2) was the culmination of a rigorous suite of test-like-you-fly checkouts. Since payload integration in December 2006, the vehicle has seen multiple Integrated System
Tests, extensive Thermal Vacuum testing, and Acoustic testing in the stacked launch configuration. The testing conducted on SV-2 proved that it is capable of operating in its on-orbit environment. During the Thermal Vacuum test, the spacecraft was put through its paces over a 79-day test at near-vacuum pressure.

The Boeing Company has delivered the first Family of Advanced Beyond line-of-sight Terminals (FAB-T) Engineering Development Model (EDM) to the U.S. Air Force B-2 Program. Boeing and the Air Force will use the EDM to initiate platform integration and test activities.

Over the next few months, additional EDM units will be delivered to undergo integration and flight testing on a Boeing 707 test aircraft operated by the Air Force and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Lincoln Labs, and on an operational RC-135 aircraft at Majors Field in Greenville, Texas.
