Brazilian Air Force gets two new Ipanema aircrafts
Embraer delivered two new Ipanema aircraft, last December, to the Brazilian Air Force (Força Aérea Brasileira - FAB). The ceremony was held at the Botucatu plant, in the State of São Paulo, Brazil, and was attended by officers from the Brazilian Air Force Academy (Academia da Força Aérea Brasileira - AFA) and the Aviation Materials Park of Lagoa Santa (Parque de Material Aeronáutico de Lagoa Santa – PAMA-LG), in the State of Minas Gerais, Brazil.

The delivery of these two new Ipanema aircraft seals a contract signed during the second half of 2007. With this acquisition, the FAB now has five of this model towing AFA training gliders.
“For us, from Embraer, it is always a pleasure to serve the FAB, our important partner and the biggest operator of Embraer aircraft in Latin America,” said Luiz Carlos Aguiar, Embraer Executive Vice President, Defense and Government Market. “The Ipanema is a distinctive product and has shown itself to be highly flexible over the years, for use in a variety of applications. I am certain that this aircraft will successfully accomplish the mission for which it was configured.”
With around a 75% share of the agricultural aviation market in Brazil, the Ipanema has been manufactured steadily for 37 years, having delivered over one thousand units. Besides crop dusting, it can be operated for firefighting and towing gliders, among other uses. The aircraft is the first series production airplane in the world to leave the factory already certified to be powered by ethanol, which is cheaper and has less impact on the environment than aviation gasoline.
