New Delhi: The Biography of Pt. Girdhari Lal Salwan, authored by Dr. Mohinder Singh (Member, National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions) and Dr. Indu Khetarpal (Trustee – Salwan Education Trust and Principal – Salwan Public School, Gurgaon) was launched on 9th Dec at Siri Fort Auditorium. The book ‘The Invincible Soul’ has been published by the Harper Collins and is priced at Rs 495/-. Chief Guest of the launch was Salman Khurshid-Minister of external affairs. The guest list included High Court Justice Pradeep Nandrajog ,actor Kabir Bedi , famous educationists: Shyama Chona , Rajni Kumar and many others.The book captures the saga of a true patriot who dared to put aside his personal tragedies, political ups and downs for the larger cause of humanity as well as his unwavering commitment to the beautiful idea of ‘Education for All’. Every brick of the Salwan schools whisper his ideology, ensuring that it is eternally mingled with the ethos of the schools. A Dauntless spirit cannot be contained by adversity. Pt. Girdhari Lal Salwan – a visionary, a Philanthropist and Founder of Salwan Public School, was born in the year 1902 in a remote village of Kartarpur, Punjab, in the erstwhile undivided India. Honesty and perseverance became the cardinal principles of his work and his determination to provide quality education, on partition in 1947 in a scenario where even the basic facilities were not available.
Today 11 schools and a Welfare Centre are running successfully under the aegis of Salwan Education Trust. All the Trustees and members of the Managing Committees comprise of eminent judges, senior administrators, financial experts, educationists and industrialists.
