Aman Kachroo Case : 4 Medical students involved in ragging face 4 years in prison

The four medical students involved in Aman Kachroo ragging case got 4 years in prison and a Rs 10,000/- fine. The punishment was handed over by a sessions court today. Its been over a year that Aman Kachroo died in the ragging by the four accused.

The four accused medical students are Ajay Verma, Naveen Verma, Abhinav Verma and Mukul Sharma. They were pronounced culpable to homicide not tantamount to murder under section 304 (II). They will undergo extra 3 months of prison if they don’t pay up Rs 10,000/-. The four accused have already served 21 months and will serve 2 years and 3 months of imprisonment.

Aman Kachroo was a first-year MBBS student at Tanda medical college student. He was beaten to death by the four accused, who were his seniors. The incident happened in the hostel at Dr. Rajendra Prasad Tanda Medical College campus, Kangra on March 8 last year.

Aman had complained to his parents and college authorities by his seniors in inebriated state.

The then principal of the college, Suresh Sankhayan was held responsible for the ragging case after a magisterial by the state. Sankhayan was forced to retire on October 30 this year.
