The Indian Air Force (IAF) is set to evaluate Akash missile this month. The live firing is going to be conducted in Balasore test range.

last month simulated tests were conducted in Pokharan. The tests consisted of 3 steps:

1) The Electronic Warfare systems of Akash Missile system. The system passed the jamming test.

2) Functional tests of the Akash Missile system. All individual components that formed Akash Missile system were tested.

3) The live tests. Akash Missiles systems tracked, discriminated and locked aircrafts and helicopters.

There was no live firing of Akash Missile in Pokharan range.

i have studied the akash sam system deeply and yet i m not able 2 understand the missiles highest intreception altitide.there were different altitudes stated by different sites, like 15000m,16000m and 17000m.which is the correct one?.JF-17[thunder]co developed by pakistan and china has a maximum flying altitude of 17500[as posted by wikipedia.org],
can the akash intrecept the JF-17 at this altitude?.i accept that the rajendra II and rajendra III radar[blr]by which the airforce & army plan to operate the akash sam are good enough with a range of 60km and able to lock on multiple targets by simultaniously guiding 8 missiles at 4 targets wit 2 missiles per target[rajendra III],[rajendra II can guide 4 missiles simultaniously at 2 targets].as pakistan plans to induct 250 JF-17thunders ,r the akash capeable of defending our bases?
