Agni – II was flight tested for the first time by Strategic Forces Team at 10:05 Hrs. on 19th May 2009 at wheeler Island, near Dhamra, off Orissa Coast. However, there is no claim of complete success or failure. The data is being analyzed by the Missile Directorate of DRDO.

Its is not an Agni-II failure. The System has been tested for its performance before and put into production. Its being determined if there was an user / operator error, procedural error or production error. DRDO was there to facilitate the testing and was not directly responsible for it. Whatever the error, these systems should be regularly tested in order to operationalize these strategic systems and user confidence. This is what the trials are meant for.
