2 Dogra Battatlion ready to leave for UN mission

The Second Battalion of the DOGRA Regiment is scheduled to be inducted for peacekeeping operations as part of United Nations Mission in Ethiopia-Eritrea (UNMEE) between the third week of November.

2 DOGRA has the unique privilege of being awarded the 22 Battle Honours, one Theatre Honour and one Chief of Army Staff Unit Citation, a recognition of outstanding performance in operations. Post independence the battalion got the honour of being awarded one Param Vishist Seva Medal, three Maha Vir Chakra, six Vir Chakra, one bar to Vir Chakra, one Ashok Chakra class III, seven Shaurya Chakra, four Yudh Seva Medals, 25 Sena Medals, two Vishist Seva Medals, 27 Mention in Despatches, 30 COAS Commendation Cards, 30 GOC-in-C Commendation Cards, Battle Honour Uri (J&K) 1947-48, Theatre Honour (J&K) 1947-48, Battle Honour Op HILL (J&K) 1965 and Unit Citation (Op RAKSHAK PUNJAB) 1992.

The 8 Mechanized Infantry, EME, Signals, AMC, AD Corps. AOC, AEC, APS &CEC of 18 Field Company will be deployed along with the 2 DOGRA Battalion Group.
